And just to add a little info, I used the Skyrim Special Edition in-game mods menu to change the load order of mods, but then again - I have so far only used in-game mods (those offered in the in-game mods menu). NPC appearance problems, dark face and neck gap are so common, especially when we started to install multiple NPC appearance mods. To understand why these bug occurs, we need to understand where is the problem. There are 3 things required to change an NPC appearance: 1, ESP entry for NPC adjustments, which you can see in Creation Kit or TES5Edit. Dimhollow Crypt[edit]

Having been given your assignment from Isran, go investigate Dimhollow Crypt. As you enter the first room you will overhear two vampires conversing. Accompanying the two vampires is a single death hound. Here you will find the body of Vigilant Tolan near the bodies of two dead vampires. You will also notice a closed gate that is blocking progress deeper into the cavern. After disposing of the vampires and their death hound, turn your attention to the opposite side of the room from which the closed gate is located, where you will see a stone structure. Enter it to find a number of useful items, including a leveled sword in a draugr coffin and a couple of leveled potions. At the top floor of the structure you will find a pull chain that opens the gate at the other side of the room.

In the next room you will encounter a leveled vampire accompanied by several skeletons. Defeat or sneak past them. At the top of the stairs where this vampire is, you can head right along the ledge past the standing sarcophagi for an unlocked chest with a small amount of gold and a potion; to the left you will find another gate with glowing mushrooms growing on either side. In the chamber on the other side of the gate you will find a few dead draugr and an arcane enchanter. Cpanel file manager v3 free download. To the left of the entrance is another unlocked chest. Head down the stairs on the right side to find a vampire and its death hound companion battling some draugr. After dealing with any remaining enemies head down another staircase to find a room with four gated doors, each of which can be opened by pulling the chain next to it. The hallway straight ahead leads to a pedestal with two leveled potions on it as well as a few more potions to the right and left of the cage which can be retrieved using telekinesis. The first door on the left leads to a master-locked chest, the door on your right opens to a leveled draugr, and the fourth door, to the left of the altar door, leads to the next chamber.

The next chamber contains the corpses of many frostbite spiders, along with two live vampires and two death hounds. After dealing with the enemies proceed down hallway to discover a large gate and a leveled vampire fighting a wounded frostbite spider. After dealing with them proceed to the small wooden door at the other end of the room to enter Dimhollow Cavern.

As you enter Dimhollow Cavern you will overhear the vampire Lokil interrogating Vigilant Adalvald, who will die before revealing anything to his captor. After Adalvald dies, Lokil, his thrall, and an accompanying vampire will become hostile towards you as soon as they detect you.

After killing them, make your way to the circular stone structure that dominates this chamber. Pressing the button atop the pedestal in the center will cause a spike to emerge, impaling your hand as a purple light shines up from troughs in the floor. Push each of the movable braziers into or away from the center of the circle so that they touch the end of the purple light within their path, causing the pattern to expand towards the next brazier, until you connect them all. The center of the structure will then descend to reveal a stone monolith beneath the pedestal, which contains a mysterious woman carrying an Elder Scroll. Upon speaking to the woman, she will tell you that her name is Serana and that she is a vampire. She will ask you to take her to her family home, Castle Volkihar, northwest of Solitude. Asking her a few questions will reveal that she is not very trusting of you, but she does reveal that she has been imprisoned for a very long time, since even before the rise of the First Empire of Cyrodiil (i.e., about 4,200 years before current events). Once you finish your conversation with her, the quest completes and the next one begins.

Notes[edit]

  • Dimhollow Crypt can be difficult to find due to its location atop a mountain. Head directly east of Frostmere Crypt and you'll soon see a southbound path up the mountain. Look for steps to continue following the path upward. Alternatively, you can find the Lord Stone and the Shrine of Mehrunes Dagon. From the front of the shrine, follow the dirt path that skirts the cliff face east.
  • Dimhollow Crypt will be nearly empty if you enter it before this quest has started, with just a few wolves inside, and the gate will be blocked. The pull chain will also not be present.
  • Serana will have unique dialogue if you are a vampire. She will assume that her father sent you, and if told that you were sent by the Dawnguard will remark that it doesn't sound like the name of a group of vampires. She will also note that the Dawnguard will eventually figure out what you are and turn on you.
  • If you free Serana without killing the other vampires first, she will turn hostile towards them.

Bugs[edit]

  • Upon pressing the button in the center of the room, the initial bit of purple fire will appear, but the quest arrow above the button will not disappear. The columns will move and there will still be vibration and whatnot when it's in the right place, but the purple fire will not respond. When all columns are in place, nothing happens.
  • When pressing the button in the center of the room, you may get stuck in a continuous loop of pressing the button.
  • This quest may not start after finishing the Dawnguard quest.
    • A possible solution is to enter the console before talking to Isran, and issue the commands stopquest DLC1NPCMentalModel followed by startquest DLC1NPCMentalModel
  • If you have a vampire thrall with you when you activate the button atop the pedestal that impales your hand, the thrall will attack you. The thrall will become friendly again if you sheathe their weapons/spells.
  • Sometimes you will be unable to speak to Serana.
    • Saving and reloading the save appears to fix this.
  • On rare occasions, Serana will not be in the monolith, and will only appear if you wait. Upon talking to her, she will begin walking away to an unknown location. This may be related to an issue with the Castle Volkihar entrance. ?
  • Having a follower when opening Serana's sarcophagus may lead to a bug preventing A New Order from starting. It is advised to make a save before doing so and should the bug occur, dismissing any current followers as well as entering set playerfollowercount to 0 into the console, then proceeding as normal. ?

Skyrim Se Brown Face Fix

This is a Skyrim bug unfortunately. There is only a temporary fix (nothing permanent exists, yet).
It happens when you perform a race change on a NPC. You can usually export facegen data for a NPC and package it with your mod, but I cannot export facegen for all the NPCs in Skyrim (you can turn almost anyone).

- type: setnpcweight 50 (any value from 1-100 will do)
This will reload the 3D model and help them match again (or a lot closer anyway).
UPDATE: I have scripted an automatic (temporary) fix in versions 6.8 and above. When you enter a cell it will attempt to refresh the 3D model of those NPCs you have turned. It is also scripted to occur every hour in game as you walk around. This should help alleviate the 'grey face bug', but you might see it disappear after a few seconds or after you wait. I have noticed that some NPCs cannot be fixed no matter what we do. Console commands and scripts refreshing the face are ineffectual for some models - perhaps they have unique textures beyond what average NPCs have.
